Jennifer House Hinshaw, born and raised in South Central Virginia, has been immersed in dance since the age of three. Childhood ballet, jazz, tap, and baton classes cultivated a love for dance that became Jenniferâs life work. In May of 2003, Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science in Dance Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has spent the last twenty years diligently working to pass on her passion for dance through creating and directing two Public High School Dance Departments (Wake Forest-Rolesville High School and Avon High School), teaching at various dance studios, and serving as a movement choreographer in the pageantry arts.
Jennifer has been a passionate participant in the color guard activity since 1995. She has always loved the organic fusion between spinning and dance. The guard community provided her with a home to perform and simultaneously gave her the space to create. She loved that in this world you come as you are (no matter your technical training, flexibility, size, ability). Everyone is provided the tools to explore, break barriers and master high level skills with strength and confidence. It is that open door feeling that she loves about the guard community and has kept her involved long after her performing years.
Over the years, it has been her honor and privilege to work alongside some incredible designers and with some outstanding performers. Jennifer has had the opportunity to create with groups such as Avon High School, Brownsburg High School, Carolina Crown, Carmel High School, Castle High School, Fishers High School, First Flight, Hebron High School, Lexis Winterguard, Madison Scouts, Phoenix, Rouse, Ronald Reagan and The Pride of Cincinnati.
Currently Jennifer works as a freelance choreographer for Hinshaw Visual Design and an Event Coordinator for Expressenz Dance Center. When she is not dancing, Jennifer resides in Danville, Indiana with her husband Richard and their three children, McKinley, Coleman, and Annalise.
